Name: Scott Summers
Door:

Canon: Marvel Comics
Canon Point: Uncanny X-men (2018) #11

Age: Mid 30s
Appearance: Standing at 6’3”, Scott weighs a cool 195lbs. He has scrappy brown hair and lots of scruff, having currently lost the drive and stamina to keep himself well maintained. His eyes are a dark ruby red to match the ruby quartz sunglasses he wears to contain his powers, which he cannot control on his own. While he used to wear a visor to contain them, he’s settled for special sunglasses now to blend in with the humans. At home he dresses to match, wearing grubby clothes rather than an X-man uniform. It’s pretty much all he can afford and upkeep isn’t great.

History:
Here. He comes in the midst of X-men Disassembled (“after spending months hiding in New York”).

He hasn’t formed the new team yet, having just battled Captain America at a anti-mutant rally and announced to the world that he is going to wait at the destroyed Academy for anyone who’s still around. He’s about to get ready to head out for that night.

Personality:
Positive Trait:
Fervid. Scott is truly a passionate man. He doesn’t always try to show this, but his tendency to be emotional is always brimming under the surface. While he thinks he’s hiding it well? Everyone is aware of it. This works out in how when Jean dies, he’s so dedicated to the memory of her that his passion is manipulated to make him marry a clone of her. It also works in how fiercely he defends and leads the mutants in the X-men.

Negative Trait:
Reticent. While his passion is clear, what he’s thinking never truly is. He does well at hiding what’s underneath the surface in his mind. He learned how to do this when he was being experimented on as a child and it just stuck since. Unfortunately, this means that he can get hurt while hiding things. So much of his trauma is only brought out, eventually, by his dead wife Emma giving him therapy to heal his psychic wounds. She’s the only one he truly trusts with his thoughts and feelings, not confiding them in anyone else. It would take a lot for him to tell someone else.

He tells surface things, he’s careful. He picks things that don’t really matter to tell and hides behind them. For example, in recent canon he freely told people that he was hoping the X-men were alive. However, he was hiding behind this and not sharing how distraught he felt that they weren’t.

Negative Trait:
Anxious. This is the true definition of Scott Summers. He’s been anxious all his life and it only got worse when his powers emerged. This was used to manipulate him into being experimented on by Mister Sinister - and as the basis for some of the experiments that were carried out. His anxious leads to so many of his traits - being faithful because he is stressed at the idea of letting someone down, being fervid because being anxious leads to passion for him. Reticent because the idea of sharing his thoughts and feelings makes him feel like something bad will happen. As a child, the fact the X-men existed to home him calmed his anxiety and made him feel truly protected by their joint team, which is why he can never truly abandon the idea of the team.
Negative Trait:
Faithful. While it is a good thing to be faithful, Scott does it to the extent that it hurts him, neglecting himself for those he’s loyal to. This is shown through how he sticks by Jean’s side - with few exception - no matter what she does to him or others. This is also shown recent to his canon point, when he goes on tv and tells all mutants to meet him at the remains of the Academy. This is dangerous to him, it nearly gets him killed, but he’s willing to do it because of how faithful he is to the X-men and the idea of them existing.

He sees what he’s faithful to as more important than himself.

Powers and Abilities:

Scott’s mutant ability is beams of concussive force that come out of his eyes. They are extremely strong but heatless. While he should be able to control these, due to a mix of mental trauma and childhood brain injury, he’s incapable of doing so. He generally uses a visor to control the power of and direction of the beams. In his attempt to blend in with humans, he uses less sophisticated sunglasses, which he merely removes to set off his beams. This means they’re at 100% force all the time.

While this would be fearful outside of the game, I want to nerf his ability so that it barely even dents a wall. This would frustrate and annoy him and I’m all for that. He wants to be able to control or turn off his powers on his own, not have them slayed in such a way. It’s like getting your cake but you can’t eat it too.

In training, he has multiple black belts and is well trained in unarmed combat. He’s developed his spatial awareness tenfold, and makes for a great leader with his tactical ability. He’s skilled at math, particularly trigonometry. He uses this with his optical perception to control the direction of his blasts, able to bounce them off multiple objects to hit a particular destination. But of course, this is with them not handicapped.

Inventory:
-His X-men uniform. He doesn’t wear this around, so I assume it doesn’t count as clothing.
